WIESBADEN, Germany – Diana Ohman, Director, Department of Defense Dependents Schools – Europe, takes pleasure in announcing the selection of the new Education Chief for DoDDS-Europe. Harvey Gerry has been selected to lead the Education Division’s team of 80 curriculum and instruction system specialists, who focus on the student programs used within DoDDS-Europe’s 90 schools. Gerry currently holds the position of Chief, Education Policy and Legislation at the Department of Defense Education Activity, Arlington, Virginia. He has also held positions in DoDEA as Acting Associate Director and Chief, Education Division and Chief of Staff. The Education Division
provides a wide range of activities and events for students in all grades.
These include co-curricular events such as football, basketball, and tennis;
fine arts such as Jazz and Honor Band, as well as chorus and band in the
elementary schools, and a variety of other student activities such as
National History Day, Future Educators of America, Junior Leadership,
Junior Science Symposium, and Odyssey of the Mind. Gerry is no stranger to DoDDS-Europe, having previously served as the Chief of Staff in Wiesbaden. He has also served as Pupil Personnel Services Coordinator and Assistant Principal. He is a Peace Corps volunteer and currently holds the rank of Captain as a reservist in the United States Navy. Gerry has a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Psychology from Purdue University, a Certificate of Special Studies in Business Administration from Harvard University, and a Masters of Education in Education Administration from Harvard Graduate School of Education. Gerry and his family will relocate to Wiesbaden in the October timeframe. |
