WIESBADEN, Germany - Diana J. Ohman, Director of Department of Defense Dependents Schools-Europe, takes great pleasure in announcing the appointment of Michael Thompson to fill the position as the Superintendent of the Bavaria District Office. Thompson knows the Bavaria District well, having served as its Assistant Superintendent and Chief of Staff since 2000. The District comprises 22 Department of Defense Education Activity schools in central and southern Germany. Thompson was born and raised in Butte, Montana. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies and Physical Sciences from Western Montana College, and a master’s degree in School Administration from Western Montana College, University of Montana. Thompson is entering
his 21st year with DoDDS-Europe. His experience includes service as a
teacher and coach at Osterholz American High School in Osterholz-Scharmbeck,
Germany, from 1986 to 1990. He became assistant principal of the school
in 1990. He served as principal at Nürnberg American High School
from 1992 to 1995. From 1995 to 2000 he was principal at Hohenfels High
School in Hohenfels, Germany. “There were several good candidates, but I know he is the best fit for this job,” said Ohman. “I'm excited
to be a part of the Bavaria District team, where we are committed to success
for all students,” Thompson said. |
